The knife is beautiful, sharp and easy to use. The balance and weight are perfect for me. Honestly, it's exactly as I had hoped it would be. Also Burrfection sent it to Denmark very quickly with no difficulties. Call me a satisfied customer.
I will let my wife use the FSR cutting board while I enjoy the hinoki cutting board. Giving it a nice rinse before using makes it smell great and absorb less of whatever you are cutting on top of it. Just need to make sure nobody "helps" me out by wshing the board and laying it flat or on it's side to "dry" as that was how my last hinoki board started getting wood rot from having the edges and bottomw side sitting in the pooling water overnight to "dry."
They are wonderful boards that will last a LONG time if you understand how to handle wooden cutting boards for long-time use.
My old hinoki cutting board needed replacement, and this was the perfect fit. It meet the needs of my wife, who wanted something that would not retain odor, and would not need the "special treatment" a wooden cutting board requires. Nice cutting feel on the surface, nice size and shape and great weight for easy wash off and quick drying!
From an informative website, to easy ordering and speedy delivery, to quality sharpening gear, I am a very happy customer. Couldn’t ask for any better, thank you!
I love the quality, outstanding value and the service provided to me by Burrfection shipping associates was very friendly and professional.
After research on the firms long history of knife and sword making only made me more proud to receive and own this knife. I look forward to many years of use and sharpening my new Yanagiba.
This beautiful knife is my new favorite knife. That is surprising to me as I typically favor shorter knifes. The only knife I have nearly this long is a German knife, and it is good for certain heavy duty tasks, but it is way too heavy for me to use unless I need to. Ryky's knife is slightly longer yet but it is so light and nimble with a thin blade, that I enjoy using it for so many things! It is watermelon season here now, and I use it every day to slice up some watermelon. A long knife is needed, but this knife handles like a sports car. I think that Ryky did a fantastic job of designing this knife, I wouldn't change anything about it. And the wenge handle with black buffalo is beautiful and very well done. In fact the whole knife has great fit and finish. I look forward to opportunities where I can cut something with it. The price was very reasonable for the quality of the knife. And yes, it came very sharp with very nice packaging. Well done Ryky! A home run for sure.
It is my favorite Petty Knife so far. With a thin and smooth blade. Also, with a curved structure, that is easier to work on things that require finesse.
My Mom loves her new Hasegawa, bought the smaller one, they tend to get heavy as they get bigger.
Purchased this as a gift for my Son. He likes the look and feel, but, claims it is not sharp and it needs sharpening. For the price, this shouldn't need to be sharpened upon purchase
I brought the frk series after a mountain of reading up couldn't decide between frk or fsb as a few reviewers where saying it's soft ad bitey, it's not as soft as I expected from the reviews, glad I got this one, it's a excellent cutting board
This knife is amazing. A coworker of mine went to Japan and received this particular knife as a gift from a demonstration. It was an incredible keepsake, and the profile was ruined because he had no experience in sharpening. Just before I met this knife for the first time I had found “Burrfection” on you tube learning the ways of whetstone sharpening. I’m an intuitive person and learning came quick. I told my coworker that I was confident that I could fix the profile and get it back to burrfection. It was done and nearly 100%. The guy was working 2 jobs and requested time off from our kitchen. It has been roughly a week, and I kept bringing it to work knowing that it meant a lot to him with the memories of visiting Japan with his parents. On the 14th of July 2022, someone came through the back door of our kitchen and stole my bag. Over $3500 worth of my personal items, personal identification, and this amazing knife that didn’t belong to me. There are no words for how horrible I feel as I still haven’t seen my coworker, and have no idea of how to tell him that this prize is now gone with no way of getting it back. Even if I was to purchase this knife again, it still won’t be the energy of the one that was taken. I’m sharing this, so that others will know that sometimes as incredible as these objects are, they’re still worth more than the price of purchase. It was a pleasure to be able to work on such a marvelous piece of art, and at the same time a displeasure of being the one to bare the responsibility of this loss that didn’t even belong to me.
Cherish these knives … great love and energy go into making these pieces of heart and soul. You can feel the energy they bring to life when you hold them. It doesn’t matter the profile type, they’re “all” one of a kind.
Impressive packaging...esp as I was worried the stone could have got broken in transit...so a big thank you.
Will need to buy more stones but exchange rate is poor for us Kiwis.
Super light, razor sharp out of the box. Perfect balance. Working in a kitchen 10-12 hours a day IV been looking for a do anything knife and for this price you cant go wrong.
Fantastic knife. Wonderfully balanced, super sharp and stays sharp. Beautifully made.
I purchased the 180mm/Teak version of this knife and it is much more beautiful in person than the picture shows. It had a razor sharp edge right out of the box and the Damascus pattern in the cladding is just gorgeous. The finish on the knife releases food remarkably well so nothing I am cutting seems to stick to it. Another great purchase from Burfection that I will enjoy for many years. As usual, they shipped it out the next day and I received it in 4 days.
