Naniwa IT-0170 Hibiki Whetstone #6000
Pickup currently unavailable
Naniwa's Hibiki whetstones are harder than typical whetstones because the material uses a particularly hard bond. They are slow wearing and are mostly designed for sharpening tool blades made of hard steel, although some prefer these stones for sharpening knives of high hardness. The #6000 fine-grit whetstone can be served as a bridge between the #3000 and #8000 stones in the series. It's recommended to flatten these whetstones regularly, as it may take lots of time and effort to re-flatten the stone if the surface is dished excessively.

If the stone’s performance is slowing down, or seems to be diminishing, you can clean using a rust eraser, nagura stone, dressing stone, or a flattening plate. Be sure to clean the entire surface of the whetstone when using any of these methods to ensure even wear of the whetstone’s surface.
