Leather Strop with Hinoki Base

As one of the most prized types of wood in Japan, it is also referred to as “sacred” wood. The straight grain enhances it’s elegance, and has been known to have a light “lemony” scent.
Hinoki is also higher rot resistant due to its natural oils. For those who appreciate the appeal of classic Japanese furniture, Hinoki strop blocks will make a great addition to your knife sharpening kit.
With the same level of attention that I put into everything I design, all of the edges are finished by hand sanding to show the classic beauty of hinoki wood.

Rolled Buffalo Premium
The Best all-around leather for stropping. Period.
Rolled Buffalo strops are Burrfection's best selling strops. After testing dozens of types of leather, this particular grade of leather has proven to be suited for practically every type of knife steel. The leather is extremely resilient, and does not warp, and very dense, due to how it was finished. Can be loaded with any compound, or used bare.
- Premium grade leather for stropping your knives and razors to their absolute sharpest.
- Perfect strop for beginners or pro knife sharpeners.
- Suited for practically every steel type
- Ideal for loading with 5K-14K grit compound or use naked (without loading)
- Extremely resilient, flat - Perfect for stropping knives with micro-bevels
- 2 Size Choices: 10 inch (10" x 2.5") or 12 inch (12" x 3")
Buffalo hide strops are extremely glossy, and robust. They can be used with or without stropping compound, and will give your knives and razors an amazing edge. Buffalo hide is naturally oily, and glossy.
Raw Equine Premium
For those who love stropping, but do not want to bother using any stropping compound, raw equine offers the best of both worlds. It contains a high concentration of silicate like the premium equine, and is dense, similar to rolled buffalo. However, it is low concentration of oils, which makes the surface less slippery, and offers lots of control during stropping.
The high silicate concentration makes it very usable without any stopping compound. But for those who want to load with stropping compound, we have found it takes 5-6K grit compound extremely well. It’s currently heavily used by Ryky in his latest sharpening kit.
- Raw Equine leather contains a high concentration of silicate like the premium equine, and is dense, similar to rolled buffalo.
- Ideal for loading with 5K - 6K grit compounds
- Offers lots of control during stropping

Great quality leather that I loaded with 5k grit. I Have the equine Cordovan unit with same base for straight razor use loaded with 9k grit.
Wood base has a rough poorly sanded spot on it which U can feel by rubbing your fingers across that spot. Every where else is super smooth. I took out my other strop with same wood base and it has the same rough spot but not as bad.
I left the review as a 5 Star because the leather on both is fantastic and do a great job. I also have watched many videos from Burrfection. As a result I have 7 of the Miyabi Birchwood knives, 800 and 3000 sharpening stones along with several other items RYKY has recommended. I do not regret a single a purchase.
