Suehiro RE-610 #1000/6000 Combination Whetstone

This Suehiro combination whetstone features a double-sided #1000/#6000 whetstone made of white aluminum oxide. You may use the #1000 grit side for general sharpening, then quickly flip the stone over to the #6000 grit side for creating a smooth edge. The plastic storage case can be doubled as a whetstone holder, with non-slip rubber feet on two sides. A nagura dressing stone is included in the storage case.

How to use:

This is a non-soaking whetstone, but can absorb a lot of water on the surface during the first use, so 1-2 minute soak will aid when first using the whetstone. Afterwards, simply apply water on the surface when ready to use. Rinse and wipe dry with a hand towel when done, and allow air dry at room temp. Do not leave in water.

How to clean:

If the stone’s performance is slowing down, or seems to be diminishing, you can clean using a rust eraser, nagura stone (included), dressing stone, or a flattening plate. Be sure to clean the entire surface of the whetstone when using any of these methods to ensure even wear of the whetstone’s surface.
